What is the gender pension gap?
The Gender Pension Gap describes the gender-specific disparity in statutory retirement savings. In Europe, this gap averages 29%, as indicated by figures from Eurostat. The reason for this is that women often work part-time, earn less, and take longer breaks for childcare or caring for family members. These differences lead to inequality in retirement benefits between genders and underscore the importance of private pension provision measures.
How do women invest?
Data from Trade Republic show that, on average, women start investing two years later than men and begin with 30% less capital. At the same time, women achieve on average a 2% higher yearly return than men. One reason for this is that women diversify their portfolios more broadly, by holding 23% more assets in ETFs compared to men. Additionally, women are 10% more likely to invest through savings plans.
Where will the profit be donated?
Trade Republic is matching 100% of the profit of this campaign in a contribution to “seiStark e.V.”, an organization who will use the amount to support financial education for girls and women in local projects.
